Your Front Row Seat to Africa’s Untamed Beauty

Murchison is full of top tier Safari Experiences. While we welcome all guests to explore Safari options nearby, we've also partnered with Green Valley Entebbe to offer our guests convenient Murchison activity & safari options!

The most rewarding times for game drives are the early mornings and late afternoon/early evening. A drive through the scenic Buligi area west of Paraa to the Delta Point (where the Victoria Nile passes through the Northern tip of Lake Albert to become the Albert Nile), takes around four hours. Expect to see elephant, buffalo, giraffe, Jackson’s hartebeest and oribi. With luck, lion and perhaps even a leopard may be sighted.

Morning game drives start at 6:30am. Breakfast can be taken beforehand at 5:30am or you can take packed breakfast. Evening game drives start at 3pm. With prior notice, the lodge will book a UWA ranger guide or a local community guide to accompany you and help spot game.

A highlight of your visit to Murchison is the launch trip upstream to view the Falls and wildlife coming down to drink and bath. The round trips take three hours. You might opt for the alternative whereby you leave the boat at Fajao Gorge, climb to the top of the falls from where you ask your driver to pick you up. Fixed scheduled and private trips are organized by UWA and Wild Frontiers.

Nile River Cruise

Another interesting but more placid activity is the boat trip through the extensive papyrus delta through which the Victoria Nile flows into Lake Albert. Here again there are plenty of animals and birds to see with an excellent chance of seeing the rare Shoebill. This trip takes four to five hours. The lodge can assist with booking seats on the boat. As spaces are limited it is advisable to check availability in advance

Chimpanzee Tracking

The bird life is simply spectacular. Due to the diversity in habitats, the tick list reaches over 450 species with the shoebill stork remaining a favorite for many. The vast landscapes and varied scenery of Murchison Falls National Park can be explored on foot. Trails through Kaniyo Pabidi and Rabongo Forests provide sightings of many primates and birds, while walks around the Nile-Lake Albert Delta, offer possible sightings of the Shoebill. A hike around the top of Murchison Falls provides  a completely different experience of the magnificent waterfall and for birders  and nature lovers different walks  on both south and north bank can be organized by UWA.
