Getting Here

Most lodges near the park charge you just to reach your own bed. We don't. Come in along the Karuma road past Pakwach, and you'll pull straight up to your tent without paying a shilling in park fees. Settle in, have a drink, watch the light change over the Nile. The park, and its entrance fee, only start once you head out for a game drive or a boat safari.

The Direct Way — No Park Fee

From Kampala, take the Kampala–Gulu Highway north through Luweero and Nakasongola to Karuma, and cross the Nile at Karuma Bridge. Continue northwest on the Gulu–Arua Road, the same road that runs along the northern edge of Murchison Falls National Park, through Olwiyo toward Pakwach. At Pakwach, cross the Albert Nile on the Pakwach Bridge, then follow the Karuma road toward the lodge. Coming down the Karuma road, turn right onto the narrow dirt road. About a kilometre on, you'll see The Elephant Oasis's own signs and entry gate. Roughly 367 kilometres and 6 hours 50 minutes from Kampala, entirely on public road. This route never enters the park, so there's no park entrance fee to reach the lodge itself.

Through the Main Gate — Park Fee Applies

From Kampala, take the Kampala–Masindi Road to Masindi, then continue to Kichumbanyobo Gate, the park's main southern entrance. A Murchison Falls National Park entrance fee applies here: $45 per person aged 16 and up, $25 per person aged 5 to 15, foreign non-resident rate. From the gate, continue through the park toward the lodge. Coming from the original park entrance, the same turn is a left onto the narrow dirt road; about a kilometre on, you'll see The Elephant Oasis's own signs and entry gate. Roughly 324 kilometres and 6 hours 15 to 60 minutes of drive time from Kampala, not including time at the gate.
